fashion obsession over summer!!

okay holy guacamolie life has been hectic with everything finishing school, partying, working etc. never the less, fashion remains in my life

this time its reached obsession point where i feel as though i have to blog about it haha okay so during fashion week in london twenty8twelve released their spring/summer 09/10 collection

and im so obsessed with summer scalves now also this wearable 'rock chick' as s.miller likes to call it is perfect for street to beach casual yet fashionable functionality!!

Myspace Fashion has a new favourite! after emerging onto public platform at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week Donna Sgro gets the attention she truely deserves. after completing a bachelor of the arts at the university of sydney she decided that she wanted to go to sydneys institute of technology to do the advanced diploma in fashion design, and arent we glad she did! its so great to see someone with an art background go on to create fashion! isnt that just the best? She has a new collection coming out called Octopus's garden!

Trend Update A/W 09

Okay so i have been noticing all of the bat winged tops lately, what makes these so magnificent, is the material used to get the slouchy effect actually feels incredible because it is a really softened pure cotton. I love the shillouette they produce on the hanger... not particularly on the person but if u get a big enough one on a small enough person it works all the same. This one is an Agent 99 Cardigan from General Pants co. unfortunately i cant find a good example of the one i have in mind but still, you will notice these everywhere

Side swing tops are definately in fashion alsosometimes merging with the recently popular horizonal stripe. found usually in lycra cotton materials that cling tightly to the body and in black and white. which leads me onto my next noticable focal point- leotards/body suit. they fantastically cling to the body giving a sensual and smooth effect. Another great thing is that you can personally customise them, and the ranges in stores are limitless, you can also add them to any outfit! the most basic form is the scoop neck with the low back(very sexy) but there are also some nice pieces found in general pants co. It is highly unlikely that you would wear just a leotard with nothing else out shopping or such, and this is what frightens people from buying them, but next time you see one, try it on and layer the crap out of it. Check this wonderful one i found at Sportsgirl, this brings me to my next notable interest black lace on material.
These inventive chain stores are now adding to appeal by combining trends of different sorts to create the ultimate look.

The leather Jacket

When i was in paddington, Sydney the other day, every second person had a black leather jacket on. it was as if i was being bombarded with the cloning of leather jackets. Its sometimes difficult to find someone of individuality!! but never the less. the leather jacket is very practical and has found its way into the style section once more with the gathered waist and side pockets

and the cropped motercycle jacket sometimes seen with belts and bigger collars made popular at the beginning of the season with the tartan version of this style. i am most impressed by the cut because it is a bit more edgier than usual. Tartan nd plaid Seen in Dolce and Gabbanas Fall/Winter 09 collection, and i think Alexander McQueen wanted the monochrome hound tooth to come back for a little while, but it didn't filter through as expected.

A fashion that i am not quite understanding at the moment are The boyfriend Jeans, fair enough faded jeans look great. but the rolled hem and straight cut are sooo 90's and they arent flattering on anyone (esp. lindsay lohan) unless u are Vada Sultenfuss from my girl, which then the tartan and ghingam shirts would go nicely with ur whole cutsey little girl from the 90s look. *rolls eyes* Though the boyfriend shirt (like the oversized unshaped cotton button up) is alright.. alot of celebs are wearing them though, they are artsy and modelled to the very individualised, because they arent feminine or flattering, and u would not wear them out on a date with ur boyfirend. They are often made in plain colours though i would like to see someone spice it up a bit with prints :D

Ripped Faded Denim

The Lee Licks are extremely popular this season combining the tight fitted qualities with the ripped look (i wish i saw it coming- i should punish myself for that one!!!) I was at blues on broadbeach this year and i saw a guy sitting down wearing a flannalette shirt and some ripped denim.. not scored like these, but actually ripped at the knees like in Waynes World. Yeah so he was eating a pizza out of a pizza box and being really bogan. who would have thought he was slightly warmer to the trends of fashion than he thought!!

Knits- long knits warn as dresses are in but not the cardigan style like last season, this season you can wear them as tops or dresses, they commonly have a high rounded neckline and long loose arm holes to help that baggy effect, if you find some with pinched detailing creating shapes, go with it! because shapes are completely in this season especially for evening wear.!! i would get pictures but OMG i will be here ALLL DAY!!!! just have a look at Balenciaga, Karen Milen,Alice McCall and Honey & Beau for that one.

Cropped Cardis are in, similar to the very 90's cropped tee but more similar to the cardigan which came back in 2006 except this time they are in for winter instead of summer, bringing a warmer variety of materials, also a more casual style that is being created with the day time looks bring in organic materials in the softest quality again to create the slouched look. You can also find felt cropped swing jackets and a merging between the two are popular. Shilouettes and shape is being played around with.

The Dinner Jacket with long lapels in a satin or velvet is very 'In' this season

Tassels and Fringes

Look good with crochet wear, also fringed skirts are cute but the fringe works the best with vests and BAGs especially in shoes atm a new style of fringed loafers are here to create that old indian meets western look

3 Last things!!

Floral printed dresses are in season you can team the look to suit the climate with a good dinner jacket, Manstyle jacket (also in this season esp. in wool), tights, fingerless gloves, crochet beanies, leather boots, knee high boots are in aswell as studded ankle boots. :) check out Anna Sui, Chloe, Thakoon, and Zimmerman

BIB necklaces, currently avaliable through Agent99 at General pants stores often suited to the tribal theme emerging at the moment with animal prints. a look with animal prints, man jacket or dinner jacket, studded ankle boots and black leather pants can put u in the fashion.

MILITARY JACKETS

some embellished royal styles were created from influence by michael jacksons death, but military style jackets were coming in anyway even without fringed door boy shoulder paddings Royal like chains and sequins and diamonte encrustation :) but if u do see one influenced more by michael jacksons royal impact then opt for that over the boring military. war is getting old! the king of pop just died! -get with the times.

Idiots.

People who work at fashion stores but do not know a thing about fashion. eg. I went into a designer store the other day and tried on a tan trench, the shop assistant then walked away ... there was no one there to sell it to me, so why would i buy it. I decided to try again to find something i would buy, when she returned I asked her when their new stock was coming in, she then proceeded to say "Oh, what, do you mean .." a simple question, had left her baffled. I said will you be getting many prints? she said: " .... "what, prints, as in..., what do you mean prints?" I followed on to say.. you know, floral prints, printed tops with patterns etc. she said oh we had one but i sold it.. .like wtf stores get stock in sets not one by one, and if they were from the new seasons collection im pretty sure there would be a whole lot more where it came from.
So mid-season basically SUCKSSS especially in this subtropical climate i live in, it is sunny and clear blue sky but freezing cold, could u have any more of an opportunity to look like an idiot getting dressed? i guess the ingenuity must be left up to us :D lots of experimental growing room :) GET CRACKING!
